A project born within a family
The Petricor project
Petricor is the scent that rises when rain falls on dry earth, on stones, fallen leaves, and dry-stone walls. For us, it speaks of our Liguria, of the land we belong to, whose rhythms we respect through mindful farming practices. Above all, Petricor is home, the place we live in and strive to protect.
Our roots
As a child, I often went with my grandfather to his favourite olive grove, Cà Sottane. Among the trees there was a large water basin filled with trout, an unusual and precious presence in the countryside.
Today, my grandfather and the trout are gone, but a lemon tree and a fig tree remain. They were planted out of necessity: in summer, farmers would bring only bread and salami with them, quench their thirst with well water and lemon, and find energy in ripe figs.
It is from these simple gestures that Petricor was born: from respect for the land, from memory, and from the desire to value what remains.
About us
In 2021, Petricor came to life, a project by Giada and Federico, partners in both life and work, who chose to create an artisanal brand dedicated to transforming the finest Taggiasca olives from their own groves. From this vision come extra virgin olive oil, table olives in different preparations, and preserves made with fruit from the trees growing among the olive groves, an authentic part of their story.
Their roots and skills are different yet complementary: Giada, with a background in gastronomic sciences and business management, comes from a family long connected to olive growing; Federico, a history graduate, is the creative mind behind the project, coordinating the work in the fields while also welcoming guests and turning every visit into a genuine experience. Two perspectives that meet in a project grounded in manual work, slow agriculture, and deep respect for the land: making each product a true expression of their territory.
Continuity and change
We are a family of farmers, but we do not like to be confined to a single definition. We are people reinventing ourselves, embracing a new challenge and believing in sustainable agriculture as, above all, a way of life.
For us, cultivating means caring for the land with love and respect, following the principles of integrated pest management. Every day we work among the olive trees seeking a natural balance, where the environment takes centre stage and the quality of the olives is born from conscious choices. We are sensitivity, commitment, and dreams taking shape, and we strive to become even more.
